Description

The Irving is an industrial wall light combining a smoky glass dome shade with a matt black circular backplate and knurled brass details. The glass dome measures 20cm wide and 27cm high, housing a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) rated up to 40W. The knurled brass collar and switch detail provide textural contrast against the black metal frame.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas, the Irving mounts on a standard UK backplate and projects 25cm from the wall when fitted. The smoky glass diffuses direct glare from filament bulbs while allowing the bulb itself to remain visible, making it well-suited to decorative Edison-style LED bulbs. The IP20 rating confines use to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and outdoor positions.

The combination of matt black metal, knurled brass and tinted grey glass sits comfortably in industrial, mid-century and contemporary interiors. The brass detailing is plated rather than solid, which keeps the overall weight manageable for plasterboard walls when fitted with appropriate fixings. Maytoni manufactures the Irving in their European facility and covers it under a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

What bulb does the Irving take?

The Irving takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a decorative filament-style LED bulb between 4-6W and 2200K-2700K to complement the smoky glass and industrial aesthetic.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the Irving is suitable only for dry indoor locations away from direct water contact. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor positions.

How far does it project from the wall?

The Irving projects 25cm from the wall once fitted, measured from the backplate to the front edge of the glass dome. Allow clearance if installing above furniture or in narrow hallways.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb you choose. If you fit a dimmable LED bulb and pair it with a compatible wall dimmer switch, the light output can be dimmed. The fitting itself does not restrict dimming.
