A honeycomb louvre in black, this small round cover is made to take the glare out of an Ipsilon track light. The open cells let the beam through while shielding the bright source from anyone looking back towards it, so what you notice is the lit object rather than the fitting. At 62mm across it is a discreet piece, barely altering the profile of the head it works with. Being non-electric, it draws nothing and needs no lamp of its own. It is one we keep alongside the track heads themselves.

We reach for these in rooms where light is aimed across a space at eye level: shop displays, gallery walls, kitchen islands with seating on the far side, and long open-plan rooms where a narrow beam would otherwise be caught head on from the sofa. They suit anyone who has lived with accent lighting and found it dazzling from the wrong angle. Used across a whole run of track heads the effect stays consistent, and we would specify them from the start where artwork or a glossy worktop is in play.

The black finish is there to sit quietly in the aperture, with dark cells absorbing stray light rather than bouncing it back. Keeping it clean is a matter of lifting dust out of the cells now and then with a dry, soft-bristled brush, with no solvents or sprays anywhere near it. It carries a five year warranty. The rest of the range is track lights in black and white, at two colour temperatures, so the cover can be matched to the head you have chosen.
