Description
The Knightsbridge JB0012 is an IP68-rated 16A 4-pin plug and socket connector designed for outdoor, underground and marine power connections where full weatherproofing is required. The IP68 rating certifies dust-tight construction and protection against continuous submersion in water up to 2bar pressure, making the connector suitable for installations subject to flooding, hose-down, or permanent outdoor exposure.
The 4-pin configuration supports three-phase power with earth, or single-phase power with control signals for automation, emergency lighting and industrial machinery. The 16A rating at 450V handles higher-draw equipment including outdoor lighting arrays, construction site tools, agricultural machinery and EV charging infrastructure. Each connector uses silver-plated copper screw terminals inside a polycarbonate housing with PA66 cable glands and silicone seals.
The plug and socket separate cleanly for equipment disconnection and reconnection in wet or dusty conditions without compromising the IP68 seal when re-mated. Cable diameter compatibility ranges from 5mm to 12mm via M22 cable glands, accepting H07RNF 3G cable from 0.75mm² to 2.5mm² cross-section. The screw-fix terminals resist vibration and thermal cycling, and the black polycarbonate casing withstands UV exposure and mechanical impact on construction sites, outdoor events and permanent exterior installations.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP68 rating mean?
IP68 certifies the connector is fully dust-tight (the '6') and protected against continuous immersion in water beyond 1m depth (the '8'). This connector is rated to 2bar pressure, suitable for installations subject to flooding or permanent outdoor exposure including buried cable runs.
What cable does it accept?
The M22 cable glands accept cable diameters from 5mm to 12mm. The connector is certified for use with H07RNF 3G cable from 0.75mm² to 2.5mm² conductor cross-section. Always match cable specification to the load and environmental conditions.
Can it be used for three-phase power?
Yes. The 4-pin configuration supports three-phase power with earth, or can be wired for single-phase power with control signals for automation or emergency lighting circuits. Check local wiring regulations before installation.
Is the connector reusable?
Yes. The plug and socket are designed to be disconnected and reconnected repeatedly. The screw terminals allow cable changes, and the silicone seals maintain the IP68 rating across multiple mating cycles when properly re-assembled.
