Description

The Knightsbridge drive-over ground light is a recessed uplight built from grade 304 stainless steel with a clear tempered glass diffuser, rated IP67 for full dust and water protection. The fitting takes a single GU10 LED bulb up to 7W (sold separately) and is tested to withstand loads up to 1000kg at slow vehicle speeds, making it suitable for driveways, patios, decking and garden paths subject to both foot and vehicle traffic.

Designed for flush installation in hard surfaces, the light requires a 92mm diameter cut-out and recesses 133mm below ground level, with only 6mm projection above the finished surface. Two 20mm compression glands allow loop-in-loop-out wiring, so multiple fittings can be daisy-chained along a path or driveway run from a single outdoor-rated power supply. The clear diffuser directs light upwards to graze walls, illuminate trees or mark path edges without glare at eye level.

The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in coastal, high-moisture and freeze-thaw environments better than lower-grade steels. The brushed finish on the rim hides minor scratches from foot traffic and vehicle tyres over time. At 105mm diameter the fitting sits flush with standard paving slabs and block paving without requiring custom cuts. Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb chosen — pair with a dimmable GU10 LED and a compatible outdoor dimmer if variable output is required.

Yes. The fitting is tested to withstand loads up to 1000kg at speeds of 5mph or below, which covers typical domestic driveway use by cars and light vans. Avoid sustained high-speed traffic or heavy commercial vehicles.

What depth of installation is needed?

The light recesses 133mm below the finished surface level and requires a 92mm diameter cut-out. You will need a minimum sub-base depth of 150mm to allow clearance for the fitting body and cable connections beneath the paving.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

The 304 stainless steel construction offers good corrosion resistance in coastal environments with salt spray and high moisture. The IP67 rating fully seals the lamp chamber against water ingress, including temporary immersion during heavy rain or flooding.

What GU10 bulb should I use?

The fitting accepts any standard GU10 LED bulb up to 7W. For path or driveway marking, a 5-6W warm white (2700K-3000K) LED provides sufficient uplight without glare. Dimming capability depends on the bulb chosen — select a dimmable GU10 if you plan to use a dimmer.
