Description

The Indus is a Tiffany-style table lamp with an amber stained glass shade set in a vintage bronze metal frame, supported on a cast resin base with three vertical columns and decorative scroll detail. The shade measures 406mm diameter and 584mm total height, constructed from individual glass panels soldered into a geometric pattern with radiating amber sections and a decorative border band featuring Celtic-inspired metalwork overlays.

Designed for side tables, desks and bedside stands, the Indus provides task and ambient lighting through two E27 bulb fittings controlled by separate pull-chain switches hanging from the shade. Each fitting accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose warm-white LEDs for reading (typically 6-8W at 2700K) or lower-wattage filament bulbs for decorative accent. The amber glass diffuses light into warm tones that suit living rooms, studies and bedrooms where softer lighting is preferred over bright downlights.

The vintage bronze finish on the metal frame and resin base pairs with the amber glass to create a cohesive warm palette that sits comfortably in traditional, Arts and Crafts, and transitional interiors. The cast resin base provides stability on surfaces without the weight of solid metal, and the geometric stained glass pattern references early 20th-century Prairie School design without attempting exact period reproduction. The pull-chain switches are functional rather than decorative, positioned for easy reach when the lamp is placed on a desk or bedside table.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Indus take?

The lamp has two E27 (Edison screw) fittings, each rated for bulbs up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-8W at 2700K for reading, or lower-wattage decorative filament bulbs for ambient lighting.

Can the two bulbs be controlled separately?

Yes. Each E27 fitting has its own pull-chain switch, allowing one or both bulbs to be lit depending on the required light level.

Is the shade genuine Tiffany glass?

This is a Tiffany-style lamp using traditional stained glass construction methods (individual glass panels soldered into a metal frame), produced by Quoizel rather than the original Tiffany Studios. The design references Prairie School geometric patterns common in early 20th-century American decorative arts.

What surface area does it need?

The 406mm-diameter base requires a table or desk surface of at least 450mm square for stability, with clearance above for the 584mm height. The lamp sits comfortably on standard bedside tables and writing desks.
