Description

A pouffe, 38cm tall, in brown. At 50cm wide it is a little narrower than a standard interior door. Height is the whole decision about where it goes: level with the seat cushion of the chair it serves, or a little below. Higher than the seat and it stops being comfortable to use.

A warm colour advances: it makes a piece read as closer and a room as smaller and more enclosed, which is an argument for it in a space that already feels cavernous and against it in one that does not. The swirl is worked into the frame rather than applied to it, so the pattern catches light along its curves and changes as you move past. It reads as decorative from a distance and as craft up close. The practical case for polyester is maintenance: colour stays put, the weave does not relax, and a spill sits on the surface long enough to be caught.
