Description

A little cylinder of a lamp that sits on a surface and sends its light straight upwards. The body is finished in black chrome, a dark mirrored tone that picks up whatever sits around it rather than shouting for attention. It stands 225mm tall on a base of 90mm, so it tucks away behind furniture or into the corner of a shelf without taking up room. An inline switch on the flex keeps control within easy reach at floor or table level, and the holder takes a GU10 reflector lamp.

We reach for uplighters like this where a room wants more light but not another shade in the eyeline: behind a sofa, at the foot of a tall plant to throw leaf shadows up the wall, inside an alcove, or on top of a bookcase to wash the ceiling. It earns its place as a second or third light in a sitting room, filling in the corners once the main fitting is off. Paired with a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, the output can be wound back for the evening. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms, porches and anywhere damp.

The fitting is double insulated, and the black chrome surface wipes clean with a soft cloth once the lamp is cold and the plug is out of the socket; skip abrasives and keep sprays away from the holder. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock the same uplighter in polished chrome, satin nickel and antique brass, useful if you would rather it blend into a lighter scheme than read as a dark shape against it. Choice of lamp does much of the work here, so pick a beam that suits how close the lamp sits to the wall. The GU10 lamp is supplied separately.
