Description
This stoneware mug puts a dapper crooner front and centre, framed in a pale mint bauble with a sparkling gold cap. He wears a black hat, a pinstripe suit and a spotted bow tie, and gives a knowing look over his clasped hands. Around him run strings of coloured fairy lights and little stars in red, teal and gold, all on a white body with a gloss finish. The handle and the inside are a bright red. On one side the words 'SINGS SMOOTH,' run along the base, and around the other the line closes on 'SMOOTHER'. It holds 11oz and stands 9.8cm tall, 12cm wide and 8.5cm deep.
With 11oz of room, it takes a proper cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, so it is a mug for everyday use rather than one to keep on a shelf. The red handle and red inside make it easy to pick out from plainer mugs in the cupboard or on a shared office tray. The bauble, fairy lights and stars bring a seasonal note when the decorations go up, while the crooner and his smooth singing line keep it fun to reach for at any time of year. It looks just as at home on a desk beside the laptop as on the breakfast table.
The mug is made from stoneware, a type of ceramic, and the white body has a gloss finish that shows off the colours of the print. As good general practice for a printed ceramic mug, we suggest washing it by hand in warm soapy water with a soft cloth and drying it straight away, which helps keep the design bright; skip scouring pads on the print. For a small present, fill it with a bag of good coffee or a few chocolates and wrap it in red tissue to pick up the handle.
