Description

The Hydra is a 105mm diameter LED surface downlight with an integrated 10W LED producing 3000K warm white light through a white aluminium cylinder body. The downlight mounts directly to the ceiling surface without recessing, making it suitable for installations where ceiling void depth is limited or where running cables above the ceiling is not possible.

Designed for low-ceiling rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and commercial installations where a recessed downlight would require structural cutting, the Hydra provides 120° beam spread from a compact 70mm height. The IP44 rating protects against moisture and splash, allowing installation in bathrooms, kitchens and covered outdoor areas such as porches and soffits. The surface-mount construction means the downlight can be fitted to plasterboard, concrete or timber ceilings using the supplied base plate and fixings.

The white powder-coated aluminium body stays cool during operation and pairs with white ceilings without creating a visual break. The 3000K colour temperature provides warm white light suited to residential interiors, while the 120° beam angle covers approximately 2.5-3m diameter floor area from a standard 2.4m ceiling height. The integrated LED removes the need for separate bulb purchase and runs at 10W on standard 220-240V AC mains.

Can this be installed in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against moisture and splash, making it suitable for bathrooms outside Zone 0 and Zone 1 (where direct water jets or full immersion occur). It works well in general bathroom areas, above basins and in shower rooms where it is not directly in the shower enclosure.

Does it require a recessed ceiling void?

No. The Hydra mounts directly to the ceiling surface using a base plate. This makes it suitable for solid concrete ceilings, shallow voids and situations where cutting a recess is not possible or desirable.
