Description

The Hounslow is a 165mm diameter mini pendant light with a cylindrical clear glass shade and burnished brass metalwork at the canopy, chain mount and lamp holder collar. The glass dome extends 340mm high and encloses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately), with the clear glass leaving the bulb fully visible as part of the design. The burnished brass finish shows a warm, slightly aged gold tone with subtle tonal variation across the metal surfaces.

Designed for kitchen islands, breakfast bars and dining tables where multiple pendants can be hung in a row, the Hounslow provides focused downlight through the open bottom of the glass shade while the transparent sides allow some light spill into the surrounding space. The adjustable drop of 483-2007mm allows the pendant to be set at the correct height above a worktop (typically 700-900mm clearance) or dining table (typically 750-850mm clearance) depending on ceiling height. The chain and cable are concealed within the suspension, with the chain itself providing the height adjustment during installation.

The clear glass shade shows the bulb directly, so decorative LED filament bulbs or vintage-style Edison bulbs work well in this fitting to add visual interest when the pendant is viewed from the side or below. The burnished brass metalwork pairs with both warm wood tones and cooler grey or white kitchens, and the understated industrial style sits comfortably in traditional, transitional and contemporary interiors. The E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose brightness and colour temperature to suit the space.

The E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W. Since the clear glass shows the bulb directly, decorative LED filament bulbs or vintage-style Edison bulbs are popular choices. A warm white LED between 4-8W and 2700K provides good task light for kitchen islands and dining tables.

How many pendants are needed for a kitchen island?

For a standard 1.8-2.4m island, two or three Hounslow pendants hung in a row typically provide sufficient task lighting. Space them 600-900mm apart, centred over the island length.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is set during installation by adjusting the chain length. Once the chain is cut and the pendant wired, the drop is fixed. If you need to change the height later, the pendant must be taken down and the chain re-adjusted.

Is the burnished brass finish lacquered?

Feiss typically applies a protective lacquer to burnished brass finishes to slow tarnishing. The finish will retain its warm gold tone under normal indoor conditions, though over time exposure to moisture or handling may cause some natural patina development.
