Description

The Hoop is a 110mm square recessed downlight with a fixed black aluminium bezel and a GX53 bulb fitting. The square frame measures 11cm across with a 5.2cm recess depth, fitting ceiling voids of 60mm or deeper. The black powder-coated aluminium bezel surrounds a central GX53 socket that accepts standard GX53 LED discs up to 15W.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where square downlights suit the grid of the ceiling or the geometry of the room, the Hoop provides direct downward illumination from a fixed position. The square format works in kitchens, hallways, offices and retail spaces where multiple downlights are arranged in rows or grids, and the black bezel creates visual definition against white or light-coloured ceilings. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and outdoor areas.

The aluminium construction keeps the fitting lightweight at approximately 200g, reducing load on plasterboard ceilings, while the plastic rear housing insulates the fitting from contact with ceiling insulation. The GX53 socket uses a bayonet-twist fitting rather than a screw base, making bulb changes faster than GU10 or E27 fittings. The black finish is applied as a powder coat over the aluminium, giving a matt surface that minimises fingerprint marks during installation.

The 5.2cm recess depth requires a ceiling void of at least 60mm to accommodate the fitting and allow air circulation around the bulb. Measure the void before purchasing to confirm compatibility.

What bulb does it take?

The downlight takes a GX53 LED disc bulb up to 15W, sold separately. GX53 bulbs use a bayonet-twist fitting and are typically flatter than GU10 or E27 bulbs, making them suited to shallow ceiling voids.

Can the light angle be adjusted?
