Description
The Hone Coastal is a 457mm outdoor wall lantern built around a rectangular black metal frame that suspends a clear glass cylinder on brass-toned bands. The open frame design gives visibility to the internal E27 bulb fitting, letting light spread through the clear glass in all directions rather than being trapped behind a diffuser. The textured black finish on the frame provides a matt, low-sheen surface that resists showing fingerprints and weathering.
Designed for porch entries, garage side doors and garden access points, the lantern carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water and solid objects above 1mm. The 457mm height suits larger wall areas where a smaller lantern would look undersized, and the 172mm width gives presence without projecting too far from the wall. The composite body material is engineered for coastal and high-humidity environments, resisting the corrosion that affects standard metal fittings in salt air or persistent damp.
The brass-toned bands that hold the glass cylinder in place add a warm metallic accent against the black frame, creating a subtle industrial reference without overwhelming the clean rectangular geometry. The clear glass keeps the composition visually open, which works well on modern builds with large glazed areas or contemporary extensions where heavy, opaque lanterns would feel too traditional. The vertical proportions help define architectural lines on entrance walls and corner junctions.
The lantern accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose the colour temperature and lumen output that suits the specific location. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-12W and 2700K-3000K for porch and entrance lighting.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean?
IP44 means the lantern is protected against splashing water from any direction and solid objects above 1mm diameter. This makes it suitable for covered porches, wall-mounted positions under eaves, and locations where rain does not directly hit the fitting.
What bulb does it take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-12W and 2700K-3000K for entrance and porch lighting.
Is the glass replaceable if broken?
The clear glass cylinder is held in place by the brass-toned bands and can be removed during installation. Replacement glass is available through Kichler's service channels — contact us for details if a replacement is needed.
What wall type does it mount to?
The lantern mounts to standard masonry, brick, rendered or timber-clad exterior walls using fixings appropriate to the wall material. The 197mm projection from the wall requires clearance for the full depth of the fitting plus cable entry.
