Description

This little wooden house is a piece of wall art that carries a gentle wish across its front: "May your home be filled with happiness". It is 21cm high, 12.5cm wide and 3cm deep. The house itself is a soft beige with the grain of the wood showing through, while the pitched roof and the raised front door are natural wood. A white heart sits on the roof among fine sprigs of leaves, a chimney rises at one side, a round white window looks out beside the lettering, and dark grey sprigs of foliage grow up from the base on either side of the door, which carries a tiny white heart of its own.

Because it is only 21cm high, it fits where larger pictures would crowd: beside the front door, along a hallway, above a small desk or in a corner of the kitchen. The words read as a welcome, so a spot near the entrance suits it well, where it greets everyone who comes in. The beige and natural wood tones sit easily with whites, creams, greys and soft greens, and look at home in a cottage-style, Scandinavian or simply relaxed room. As a gift, it says what a card might say, in a form that stays on the wall long after.

It is made of wood, with the roof and the door laid on as separate pieces of natural wood, which gives the front a little depth and shadow. At 3cm deep it has a chunky, block-like look. Care is simple: dust it with a soft dry cloth, and if it needs more, wipe it gently with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. For a softer look, set it at eye level with a trailing plant or a small jar of dried flowers nearby, or tie a ribbon around it and give it just as it is.
