Hollis 1 Light Wall Light - Black with Opal Glass

The Hollis is a single-light wall bracket pairing a 156mm opal glass globe with a matt black metal arm and circular backplate. The globe sits within a black metal cradle formed from two horizontal bands wrapping around the sphere at its equator, supported on a vertical stem that projects 190mm from the wall. An E14 candle bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glass, diffused through the opal finish to produce soft, general light rather than hard-edged shadows.

Certified to IP44, the Hollis is rated for bathroom zones 2 and 3 — wall-mounted positions away from direct spray but within damp environments. The fitting also suits hallways, landings, bedrooms and living room accent positions where a compact wall light provides functional lighting without floor or surface clutter. The 403mm height and 156mm width make it proportionate to standard door frames and corridor widths without overwhelming narrow spaces.

The black metal framework and opal glass reference early 20th-century utility lighting, updated with contemporary proportions and a smoother, low-sheen finish that reduces reflections under daylight. The cradle design holds the globe securely while allowing light to escape in all directions except directly back towards the wall, which keeps the backplate shadowed and visually lighter. The E14 socket accepts LED, halogen or traditional candle bulbs up to 40W, giving flexibility over light temperature and brightness depending on room use.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

Yes. The Hollis carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3. This means it can be mounted on walls outside the immediate shower or bath area, but not within the zone directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for bathroom or hallway use.

How far does it project from the wall?

The Hollis projects 190mm from the wall surface to the front of the glass globe. This means it needs approximately 200mm of clearance in front of the wall to avoid obstruction when doors or furniture are opened.

Is the glass replaceable if damaged?

The opal glass globe sits within the metal cradle and can be removed for cleaning or replacement. Replacement parts may be available directly from Hinkley or through authorised distributors — contact us for availability.
