Description
The Hobson is a 914mm three-light island pendant built around a horizontal satin nickel frame suspended from two adjustable rods, each shade hanging from a pivoting joint that allows individual positioning. The frame holds three cone-shaped seeded glass shades, each housing an E27 bulb (sold separately), with the seeded texture adding visible grain and refraction when the light is on.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars where multiple downward light sources are needed in a single run, the Hobson provides functional task lighting without requiring three separate ceiling fittings. The 914mm width suits islands and tables between 1.5m and 2.4m long, and the adjustable drop from 578mm to 1492mm allows the pendant to be positioned 700-900mm above the worktop or table surface depending on ceiling height. The rectangular ceiling plate measures approximately 150mm × 75mm and conceals the twin cable runs.
The satin nickel finish gives a low-sheen silver-grey tone that sits between polished chrome and brushed steel, pairing comfortably with stainless appliances, grey cabinetry and both warm and cool colour schemes. The seeded glass contains deliberate bubbles and texture variations cast into the glass during manufacture, creating a stippled pattern when backlit. Each shade accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose LED filament, halogen or vintage-style Edison bulbs to control both light output and the decorative effect inside the glass.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Hobson take?
Each of the three shades takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED filament bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient kitchen lighting, or vintage Edison-style bulbs for visible filament effect through the seeded glass.
What island or table length does it suit?
The 914mm width works best over islands and tables between 1.5m and 2.4m long. For shorter tables a single or two-light version may be more proportionate; for longer islands beyond 2.4m, consider pairing two Hobson pendants or selecting a wider multi-light fixture.
Can the drop be adjusted after installation?
The drop is adjustable during installation by shortening the twin rods that connect the ceiling plate to the frame. Once fitted and the ceiling plate secured, the drop is fixed unless the fitting is taken down and reassembled.
What does seeded glass mean?
Seeded glass contains deliberate air bubbles and texture variations cast into the glass during manufacture. This creates a stippled, grainy appearance when backlit and diffuses the light slightly compared to clear glass, softening the bulb glare while still allowing the filament shape to be visible.
