Description

The Hobson is a 914mm-wide island pendant light with three seeded glass bell shades suspended from an aged brass tubular frame. The frame uses a pivoting top mechanism where two adjustable-height suspension rods attach to a horizontal crossbar, which in turn supports the three glass shades on downward stems. Each shade houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 60W.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars, the Hobson requires a ceiling height of at least 2.3m to accommodate the minimum 578mm drop from ceiling to shade base. The maximum drop of 1492mm is adjustable on installation by repositioning the chain or rod within the canopy, allowing the pendant to be set 750-850mm above a worktop or 700-800mm above a dining table. The 240mm projection means each of the three shades sits slightly staggered along the horizontal bar rather than in a flat line.

The aged brass finish shows darker patina in the recesses of the tubular frame and around the shade galleries, giving the fitting a lived-in appearance that suits period, industrial and transitional interiors. The seeded glass contains small bubbles and optical irregularities that diffuse the light from bare-filament or vintage-style bulbs without blocking their visual character. The combined width of 914mm makes the Hobson appropriate for islands and tables between 1.5m and 2.2m long.
