Description

This highland cow decoration shows a shaggy, wide-eyed cow sitting beside a white bunny, a gentle springtime scene in moulded resin. The cow is finished in warm brown, its coat sculpted into deep, flowing locks that run from the fringe over its eyes down to its tufted tail. Curved cream horns with darker tips frame a soft cream muzzle and wide blue eyes, and a crown of pastel flowers sits on top of its head: a pink rose, pale blue blossoms, a sunny yellow flower and small green leaves. Tucked against its side, the bunny is painted white with a pink nose and pink inside its tall ears. The piece stands 13.2cm tall, 8.8cm wide and 12.6cm deep, a compact size that sits on a shelf without crowding it.

It is a cheerful piece for a mantelpiece, a bookcase, a kitchen windowsill or a bedside table, bringing a touch of the countryside to a living room, a hallway or a bedroom. The pastel flowers and the bunny make it a natural choice for a spring display, set beside a jug of daffodils or a few painted eggs, yet the soft brown coat means it looks just as at home on a shelf the rest of the year. It makes a thoughtful little gift for anyone fond of highland cattle, and it is small enough to tuck into a gift bag with a card.

The resin holds the fine detail of the fur, the petals and the bunny's soft little face. It sits on its own base as a freestanding ornament, so there is nothing to hang or fix. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth or a soft brush that reaches between the sculpted locks, and wipe it with a damp cloth when needed. Set it beside a posy of fresh flowers for a happy spring corner.
