Description

This two wick scented candle wears a Highland cow on the front of its round brown jar, drawn with a shaggy fringe, soft white streaks and long curved horns. It holds 400g of wax in an apple orchard scent, and its two wicks light across more of the surface than a single flame would. The jar stands 11.2cm tall and 10cm across, and a natural-toned lid sits on top to keep the candle covered between burns. Brown and natural together give it a warm, countryside feel.

We picture it on a living room mantelpiece, a hallway console or the middle of a dining table, where that gentle face can be seen from across the room. The apple orchard scent suits a kitchen dresser just as well, and the compact jar fits a bookshelf or side table without crowding it. It sits naturally in a farmhouse or cottage style home and brings a little rural warmth to a town flat too. As a gift it asks for very little wrapping: the lid keeps it tidy and the cow print does the talking.

The wax is a blend of 70% soy wax and 30% paraffin wax. For a good burn, let the top melt right across the first time you light it, trim both wicks to around half a centimetre before each lighting and stand the candle on a flat surface away from draughts and curtains. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Wipe the outside of the jar with a soft dry cloth, and put the lid back on once the candle has cooled to keep dust off the wax. Set it beside a stack of books and a soft throw for a cosy reading corner, or tie a ribbon round the jar for a thoughtful present.
