Designed for sheltered outdoor positions such as porches, covered doorways, and recessed entryways, the Hereford carries an IP43 rating providing protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water spray at angles up to 60° from vertical. This makes it suitable for positions where the fitting sits under an overhang or porch roof that shields it from direct rain. The downward light pattern illuminates the immediate area below without causing glare at eye level, making it a functional choice for entrance lighting where you need to see steps, door locks and deliveries.

Can it be mounted upside-down to face upward?

The fitting is designed as a downlight with the bulb holder positioned to direct light downward. Mounting it inverted would place the bulb at the top of the glass enclosure, which may cause heat buildup and is not recommended by the manufacturer.

How is the die-cast aluminium finish maintained?

Wipe the lantern periodically with a damp cloth to remove dust and pollen. For coastal installations, rinse with fresh water every few months to prevent salt buildup. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the powder-coated finish.
