Description

The Helvarn is a 650mm table lamp built around a solid rectangular marble column measuring 400mm tall by 200mm wide, capped with brushed brass Greek-key corner brackets at top and bottom. A short brass stem rises from the top face of the stone to a single E27 lamp holder, finished with a rectangular white PVC shade. The marble shows natural grey veining that varies between pieces.

Designed as a sideboard, console or hallway lamp, the Helvarn suits surfaces 1m wide or larger where the 400mm length of the base sits comfortably without dominating. The rectangular shade casts light forward and back along the long axis rather than evenly in all directions, making the lamp well suited to flanking a mirror or sitting against a wall behind a sofa. The E27 fitting accepts standard screw-cap bulbs (sold separately).

The architectural detailing is the defining feature: angular brass brackets wrap each corner of the marble in stepped geometry, fixed flush to the stone faces so the brass reads as inlay rather than applied trim. The combination of veined white marble, warm brushed brass and a crisp white linen-style shade gives the lamp a graphic, sculptural presence that pairs with Art Deco, Hollywood Regency and contemporary classical interiors. Each marble block is cut from natural stone, so veining patterns differ between individual lamps.

What bulb does the Helvarn take?

The lamp uses a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair it with a 6-10W warm-white LED at 2700K-3000K to suit the warm tone of the brass detailing. Check the maximum wattage rating on the lamp holder before fitting a non-LED bulb.

Does the marble veining vary between lamps?

Yes. Each block is cut from natural marble, so the grey veining pattern, density and direction differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect, and means no two Helvarn lamps look identical.

What size surface does it suit?

With a 400mm long, 200mm wide base and a 650mm overall height, the Helvarn sits well on sideboards, consoles and large hallway tables 1m wide or larger. The rectangular shade projects light along the long axis, so the lamp works particularly well placed against a wall or flanking a mirror.

How is the marble cleaned?

Wipe the marble with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately. Avoid household sprays, acidic cleaners and polishes, which can etch or stain natural marble. Clean the brass framing with the same dry cloth to preserve the brushed finish.
