Description

This printed shop sign plaque recreates the frontage of Ollivanders, the wand shop from the Harry Potter stories, as a long, low rectangle with neatly notched corners. A raised gold border frames a black face, and across it the name OLLIVANDERS runs in tall gold capitals, with a drawn wand whose trail curls round to form the opening letter, finished with small stars. Beneath, in a flowing script, it reads Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC. The face measures 29.9cm along its longer side and 10.6cm along its shorter side, and the plaque is 1.4cm deep, so it sits neat and close wherever you place it.

Its modest size suits a bookshelf, a desk, a dresser or a mantelpiece, and the black and gold colouring sits happily in a cosy, darker-toned room. We think it makes a fond gift for a young fan aged 3 to 12, as a piece for their bedroom, and it suits a teenager of 13 and over just as well. It is a thoughtful present for a mum or a dad who grew up reading the stories and would love a nod to the famous wand shop on their own shelf. In a study, a reading corner or a games room, it adds a quiet, knowing touch that fellow fans will spot straight away.

The design is printed, giving crisp gold lettering against the black, and the raised gold border lends the face a smart, finished edge. At only 1.4cm deep it takes up next to no room, so it slips between books or onto a narrow shelf. Care is simple: dust it now and then with a soft, dry cloth and keep it somewhere dry. For a gift, wrap it with a well-thumbed copy of a favourite book from the series, and it becomes the start of a themed shelf that any fan will be glad to show off.
