Description

This matt green glass light-up decoration takes its look from the Ministry of Magic in the Harry Potter stories. A round globe sits on a curved black stand, scattered with gold-coloured stars and lettered in gold with the words 'You have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide', finished with a scrolled flourish and the words 'Ministry of Magic' beneath. It stands 24.7cm tall, 11.7cm wide and 11.8cm deep, a compact size that sits on a narrow shelf without crowding it.

Set it on a bookcase, mantelpiece, desk or side table in a dry room indoors, where the gold stars and lettering stand out against the deep green. It suits a study, a reading nook or a bedroom shelf given over to the wizarding world, and it sits as happily on a dark wooden dresser as on a tidy modern sideboard. It also makes a fitting Halloween gift, or a seasonal touch for your own home as October comes round. Because it stands on its own wide, rounded base, it needs no wall fixing, hook or nail, and it can move from room to room as the mood takes you.

The decoration is made of glass with a matt finish, so the green reads soft and even rather than glossy, and the gold detail stays clear against it. It runs on three AAA batteries, which means no cable to tidy away and no need for a socket nearby. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it gently with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away, and handle the glass with care. Light it up on a dark autumn evening for a quiet nod to the Ministry of Magic, or give it to someone who would love a Halloween piece with a little wizarding mischief.
