Description

This hanging wall banner brings the Hogwarts name to a room in gold lettering on a deep blue ground. It is shaped as a long pennant, tapering from a straight top edge to a single point, with 'School of Witchcraft & Wizardry' set in small capitals across the top and 'Hogwarts' running down its length in tall, slender letters. A fine gold line traces the edge, a round rose gold medallion bearing an H crest and the Hogwarts name hangs from one top corner, and a gold tassel finishes the point. It measures 57.6cm long and 25.1cm across at its widest, and 3.2cm deep.

It hangs from a gold cord tied to a slim rod along the top edge, so all it needs is a single hook or nail. That makes it easy to put up in a bedroom, a study or a reading corner, over a desk, above a bed or beside a bookcase. The deep blue is dark enough to let the gold lettering stand out, so it sits comfortably with dark wood furniture and warm lamplight as well as against a pale painted wall. Its long, narrow shape suits a slim stretch of wall between shelves or beside a door frame, where a framed print would not fit.

The finish is printed, with the gold lettering and edge line laid crisply on the blue ground, and the cord, tassel and medallion come attached and ready to hang. To keep it looking its best, hang it away from strong direct sunlight, which can fade printed colours over time, and dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth. We like it hung above a shelf of favourite books, with the medallion turned to catch the light. It wraps flat and easily, which makes it a simple gift to tuck into a parcel.
