Description
This porcelain mug takes its design from Diagon Alley, the wizarding shopping street of Harry Potter. The name is lettered in gold Gothic script across a matt green body. Below it, gold scrolls and stars frame a street of shopfronts and a white domed building. One white owl is perched and another is in flight, and a broomstick and a wand are worked into the lettering. Turn it round and the back carries three gold shop signs: Ollivanders, Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC; Flourish and Blotts Bookseller; and Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment. A glossy gold handle with curled scrolls and a gold rim finish it off. It holds 340ml and stands 9.8cm tall, 12.5cm across at its widest and 8cm deep.
At 340ml it holds a proper mug of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, and the generous scrolled handle gives fingers plenty of room. It sits happily on a desk while you work, on the kitchen shelf among everyday favourites, or on a bookcase beside well-thumbed copies of the novels, where the gold catches the light. Because both sides are decorated, it looks good whichever way it faces. As a collectable mug, it is as much at home on display as it is in daily use.
The mug is porcelain, with its gold print, rim and handle set against the matt green and a plain white inside. To keep the gold looking its best, we suggest washing it gently by hand with a soft cloth and drying it straight away, rather than scrubbing the decoration. Pair it with a favourite tea or a box of chocolates and it makes a lovely gift, or keep it for yourself for slow mornings with a good book.
