Description
The Haldmere wall light pairs a grey tinted glass sphere with a matt black bracket, bringing the look of the pendants down to eye level. It stands 290mm tall, spans 150mm and projects 200mm from the wall, which is enough to hold the globe clear of the plaster without reaching far into the room. One E14 lampholder takes a 7W LED bulb, so this is a fitting for atmosphere and for lighting a specific corner rather than a whole room. At 0.7kg it is light to hang, and the IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor spaces.
We would use this wall sconce in a bedroom either side of the headboard, in a hallway where a run of them lights the walk, or beside a chair in a sitting room where a floor lamp would be one thing too many. Tinted glass takes the hard edge off the bulb, so the light glows rather than glares in a dark room. Matt black keeps it graphic against a pale wall and quiet against a deep one, and the modest projection means it will not catch a passing shoulder in a narrow corridor.
The bracket and backplate are metal in matt black, and the sphere is smoked glass with a grey cast that reads darker at the curve. Dust the metal with a dry soft cloth, wipe the glass with a barely damp cloth and dry straight away, keeping sprays and cream cleaners off the matt finish. It is a Class 2 fitting, so no earth is needed at the wall box. The rest of the Haldmere range uses the same tinted glass on a six light cluster pendant, a linear pendant, a single pendant and a semi-flush ceiling light.
