Description

The Haldmere semi-flush holds four grey tinted glass spheres close to the ceiling on a matt black frame, giving the look of a cluster pendant in a room that has no height to spare. It spans 705mm by 705mm and drops only 325mm, so it clears heads in a hallway and stays out of the way in a bedroom. Four E14 lampholders take 7W LED bulbs, and the fitting is dimmable when the bulbs and dimmer switch are matched. It weighs 2.5kg and carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor rooms.

This is the fitting to reach for when a pendant would hang too low: a flat ceilinged flat, a bedroom under the eaves, a landing, or a kitchen where a hanging light would be in the way of a door. Americans would call it a flush mount, and the shallow 325mm projection is what makes it work in those spots. Tinted glass softens each bulb so a low ceiling does not feel glary, and dimming lets the light drop right back in the evening. Four globes across 705mm spread light more evenly than one central shade.

The frame and ceiling plate are metal in matt black, and the four spheres are smoked glass with a grey tint that darkens where the glass curves. Dust the metal with a dry soft cloth and wipe the glass with a barely damp one, drying it straight away and keeping sprays off the matt finish. As a Class 2 fitting it needs no earth at the ceiling. If you are lighting several rooms, the Haldmere range carries the same tinted spheres through a six light pendant, a linear pendant, a single pendant and a wall light.
