Description

The Halbanne is a round ceiling light in black, with a shade made of many thin wooden slats set on edge in a ring around a single exposed bulb. The slats are finished in black, and the bulb is glimpsed between them rather than hidden behind a solid shade. A black steel body holds the whole shade close to the ceiling on a short stem. It measures 50cm in diameter and 17.5cm high, so it covers a generous patch of ceiling while staying shallow. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of bulb to you. It is rated IP20, so it belongs indoors in dry rooms.

Its wide, low profile makes it a good choice for a living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway or study, and it is especially useful where the ceiling is too low for a long pendant. Black against a pale ceiling gives a crisp outline that reads clearly from across the room, and each slat carries a thin brown edge that adds a little warmth when you look closely. Fit a clear filament bulb and the lit lamp becomes part of the design, while a frosted bulb gives a gentler, more even glow. With no switch of its own, it is controlled from the wall switch in the room.

The body is steel and the shade is wood, both finished in black, and the light runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. Packed, it weighs 3.3KG. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. When you buy a bulb, look for an E27 cap and a rating of 40W or less.
