Description

The Griffin is a 4-light semi-flush ceiling light from Quoizel's American heritage collection, finished in weathered brass with four etched glass bowl shades. Four curved arms radiate from a central hub and support the shades at their outer ends, giving the fitting a 528mm diameter footprint. Each shade houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and is painted white on the interior to soften and diffuse the light output.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.7m where a full pendant would hang too low, the Griffin sits 356mm below the ceiling rose when fitted. This makes it suited to dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls in properties with standard UK ceiling heights. The semi-flush configuration provides ambient light across the full room while keeping the fitting close enough to the ceiling to avoid head clearance issues in circulation zones.

The weathered brass finish shows controlled oxidation across the metal surface, giving tonal variation that ranges from pale gold through to darker bronze depending on the viewing angle and light direction. This patina effect pairs with both traditional period interiors and transitional schemes where warmer metal tones are preferred over polished chrome or matt black. The etched glass shading diffuses direct glare from the bulbs, so the fitting works as a primary light source without needing secondary task lights.

The 60W maximum per socket allows for the use of standard LED bulbs in the 6-10W range (equivalent to 40-60W incandescent output), or traditional filament bulbs for those preferring visible lamp glow through the etched glass. No. Semi-flush ceiling lights are designed for horizontal ceiling surfaces only. The fitting mounts directly to a standard UK ceiling rose with no adjustable canopy for angled ceilings.
