Description
The Griffin is a 422mm semi-flush ceiling light with three E27 bulb fittings behind an etched white glass shade, supported by three curved weathered brass arms. The glass sits in a brass ring cradle with ball-joint details at each arm connection, and the fitting projects 301mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above.
Designed for low ceilings where a pendant would hang too low, the Griffin works in hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and landings where overhead clearance is limited but ambient lighting is needed. The etched white glass diffuses light from all three bulbs evenly, and the white-painted interior of the shade reflects light back through the glass rather than absorbing it into the metal frame. The fitting takes three standard E27 bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and brightness depending on the bulbs chosen.
The weathered brass finish has a brushed, slightly tarnished appearance rather than the high polish of new brass, which softens reflections under daylight and pairs well with both traditional oak furniture and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The three arms curve gently outward from the central ceiling rose before turning upward to support the glass shade, creating depth and visual interest when viewed from the side rather than sitting flat against the ceiling like a flush mount.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take and how many?
The Griffin takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with three warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient living room or bedroom lighting.
What ceiling height does it need?
The fitting projects 301mm from the ceiling. For safe overhead clearance in a hallway or bedroom, a minimum ceiling height of 2.2m is recommended. In rooms with lower ceilings, consider a flush mount instead of a semi-flush.
Is the weathered brass a plated finish or solid brass?
The weathered brass is a plated finish applied to the metal frame. The brushed, slightly aged appearance is consistent across the fitting and will not continue to tarnish or change colour over time like unlacquered solid brass would.
Can the glass shade be cleaned?
Yes. The etched white glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately. For more thorough cleaning, the shade can typically be removed from the brass cradle once the bulbs are removed and the fitting is isolated from mains power.
