Griffin 3 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Palladian Bronze with Etched Glass

The Griffin is a 422mm semi-flush ceiling light with a shallow 194mm projection, built around a circular etched opal glass bowl held by three curved arms in Palladian Bronze. Three E27 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the glass, which is painted white on its inner surface to diffuse light evenly across the room. The curved arms secure the glass bowl to a stepped circular ceiling plate that mounts directly to a standard UK ceiling rose.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights under 2.4m where a full pendant would hang too low, the Griffin provides ambient light without the drop distance of a suspended fitting. The 194mm height from ceiling to base of the glass gives enough clearance to avoid a cramped visual appearance while keeping the fitting within reach for bulb changes. The etched glass softens the light output, reducing glare from bare bulbs and creating a gentle wash across walls and ceilings rather than harsh directional shadows.

The Palladian Bronze finish is a mid-tone bronze with warm brown undertones, darker than polished brass but lighter than oil-rubbed bronze. Is the Griffin suitable for low ceilings?

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair the Griffin with three warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.

How is the glass cleaned?

The etched opal glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner. The curved arms unscrew from the ceiling plate if the glass bowl needs to be removed for deeper cleaning, though this requires isolating the circuit at the consumer unit first.
