Griffin 3 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Palladian Bronze

The Griffin is a 422mm semi-flush ceiling light with three E27 bulb positions housed beneath an etched white glass bowl, supported by curved palladian bronze arms extending from a central ceiling mount. The white-painted interior of the glass bowl reflects light back through the etched surface, diffusing it evenly across the room. The 301mm drop positions the fitting closer to the ceiling than a full pendant, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.6m where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms where ambient light is needed without visual intrusion, the Griffin provides a broad spread of light without directing it at eye level. The three E27 sockets accept standard bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving flexibility to use warm-white LED bulbs at 6-10W for a softer ambient effect or higher-wattage bulbs where more output is needed. The curved palladian bronze arms give the fitting a traditional profile that pairs with classical, transitional and period-inspired interiors.

The palladian bronze finish has a matte surface with subtle brown and gold undertones, darker than polished brass but warmer than oil-rubbed bronze. The etched white glass softens light output and hides the bulb glare, so the fitting can be installed in positions where people will look up at it without being dazzled. The combined glass and metal frame weighs enough to feel substantial without requiring reinforced ceiling fixings — standard UK ceiling roses accommodate the fitting.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 301mm drop from ceiling to base of the glass bowl makes the Griffin suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. Below 2.3m the fitting may feel too low in a typical domestic room, though it can still work in corridors or utility spaces where ceiling clearance matters less.

What bulbs does it take?

The Griffin takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs at 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The semi-flush design sits closer to the ceiling than a pendant, making it a practical choice for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.6m where a full pendant would hang too low into the room.

How is the glass cleaned?

Switch off the power and allow the bulbs to cool. The glass bowl can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately to avoid watermarks. For tougher marks, a dilute solution of washing-up liquid in warm water works well, followed by rinsing and drying.
