Our Hydria vase takes its cue from the rounded amphora shapes of the ancient world, with a full-bellied body that narrows towards a short neck and a gently flared rim. Made from ceramic in a soft grey, it has a smooth matte finish that catches the light without shine, letting the curved form speak for itself. At 15cm tall and 21cm wide, it sits low and generous rather than tall, giving it a settled, grounded presence on any surface.

The wide profile makes this one of those vases that looks good filled or empty. Left bare, it reads as a piece of sculpture, ideal on a mantel, sideboard or the centre of a dining table. Add stems and the low neck holds them in a relaxed spread, so a handful of dried grasses, eucalyptus or seasonal blooms fall naturally over the rim. The neutral grey works alongside stone, oak and linen, and holds its own in both pared-back and busier interiors. Group it with taller vases of varying heights for a layered arrangement.

Ceramic keeps the vase weighty and stable, so it stays put once styled. Wipe the outside with a soft damp cloth and dry it to keep the matte surface looking even.
