Description

This stoneware mug brings a cheerful Christmas snowman to the morning cuppa, with the words Wonderful GRANDSON written beneath him. The snowman is embossed, so he stands slightly proud of the surface, with a white body, rosy cheeks, a little orange carrot nose and a striped green scarf wrapped round his neck. Wonderful is written in soft grey script and GRANDSON in red capitals, a simple, friendly message that reads clearly from across the table. The glaze is a gentle sage green with a glossy sheen, and the inside is a pale cream. It stands 8.5cm tall, 11.5cm wide and 8.5cm deep, a comfortable everyday size for tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

It is a mug for the Christmas weeks, when a warm drink by the tree or a mug of cocoa after a frosty walk feels just right. The soft green sits happily in a kitchen alongside cream, wood or white crockery, and the snowman keeps things cheerful rather than loud, so it never looks out of place once the decorations come down. As a Christmas gift it needs very little explanation, because the printed words say who it is meant for. That makes it an easy stocking filler or a thoughtful extra beside a bigger present.

The body is made from stoneware with a smooth glazed finish, a gently flared base that sits steady on the worktop and a generous rounded handle with room for your fingers. The snowman's raised outline gives the mug a little texture you can feel as you hold it. To keep the colours bright, we'd suggest washing it by hand in warm soapy water and drying it with a soft cloth, as you would any decorated ceramic. For gifting, fill it with chocolates or a few sachets of hot chocolate, tie a ribbon round the handle and it is ready to wrap.
