Description

Small, round and finished in sand black, this is a compact spotlight measuring 80mm across that stands barely proud of the ceiling. The LED is built in, drawing 7W and putting out 520 lumens of warm white light, the softer end of the scale that flatters plaster, timber and paint alike. There is no lamp to buy or change. It is not dimmable, so pair it with a plain switch and let it run at full output.

We reach for these in flats and box rooms where a pendant would crowd the head height, and in hallways, landings and utility rooms that want light without ceremony. The spread is wide rather than tight, so a run of them will wash a corridor fairly evenly instead of dropping hard pools onto the floor. Used alone, it suits a small study or a walk-in cupboard. Warm white is the sensible choice for living rooms and bedrooms, where a cooler light can feel clinical late in the day.

The body is a shallow cylinder, wider than it is deep, so it keeps a low profile overhead. Sand black sits quietly against a dark ceiling and reads as a small dark dot against a white one, which is often the neater look in a plain room. Keep the power off and the housing cool before you touch it, then lift dust with a dry duster and leave solvents, polishes and aerosol sprays well alone. It belongs indoors, in rooms that stay dry and free of steam. It carries a three year warranty.
