Description

Our Gothic fire screen brings a little architectural drama to the hearth, with a shaped metal frame finished in antique pewter that reads as a soft, aged silver. The tracery detailing nods to Gothic arches and traceried windows, giving the panel a decorative presence even when the fire is unlit. Standing 65cm tall and 55cm wide, it is sized to sit comfortably in front of a standard fireplace opening, shielding the room from stray sparks and drifting embers.

As a fireside accessory it works hard while looking the part. Position it directly in front of the grate when the fire has burned down for the evening, or use it as a screen across an unused opening through the warmer months. The antique pewter tone sits well against exposed brick, stone surrounds and painted cast iron, and it pairs neatly with other fireside accessories such as a companion set, log basket or coal bucket in a similar aged metal. In a period sitting room or a country cottage it feels right at home, though it also adds character to a more pared-back scheme.

The 21cm depth comes from the footed base, which keeps the screen stable on hearth tiles or a level floor. The metal construction is solid and built to stand up to regular use beside a working fire. To care for it, wipe the surface with a dry or barely damp cloth and buff away any ash or soot, then dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, which can dull the antique finish over time.

Frequently Asked

What is the screen made from?

It is made from metal with an antique pewter finish that gives a soft, aged silver tone. The frame is solid and designed to withstand the heat and use of a working hearth.

Will it fit my fireplace?

At 65cm high and 55cm wide it suits most standard fireplace openings. Measure your surround before ordering, as very wide or very narrow openings may need a different size.

Does it actually stop sparks?

Yes, the panel sits in front of the grate to catch stray sparks and embers, which is useful once a fire has burned down and you want to leave it unattended for the evening.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth to remove ash and soot, then dry fully. Steer clear of abrasive or chemical cleaners so the antique pewter finish stays looking its best.

What else can I pair it with?

It coordinates with other fireside accessories in aged metal, such as a companion set, log basket or coal bucket, to pull the whole hearth together.
