Description

The Gosmelle is a slim, round LED downlight in white, 21cm across and just 2.8cm deep, so it sits close to the ceiling as a neat, clean disc. A white steel body frames a white opal plastic diffuser, and the two whites match so the whole light reads as one simple shape. The LEDs are integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change: it draws 17W and gives 2,000 lumens of warm white light at 3000K. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms, well away from water.

Because it is so shallow, it suits rooms where a pendant would crowd the space: hallways, landings, bedrooms, studies and living rooms, and anywhere with a low ceiling. At 2,000 lumens it gives plenty of general light for a room, and the 3000K warm white keeps the mood relaxed rather than clinical, which makes it a good choice for the spaces where you unwind. A pair or a row of them gives an even, uncluttered ceiling, and the plain white finish sits quietly against painted plaster, so it works as well in a period home as in a new build.

There are no settings to learn. The light is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it is switched at the wall: pair it with an ordinary wall switch, never a dimmer. Steel is strong and rigid, which suits a body as slim as this one. It runs on 220-240V mains at 50/60Hz, carries an energy class of F and weighs 0.581KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and we include the installation instructions as a download so they have everything at hand.
