Description

The Gosmelle is a slim square LED downlight with a black steel frame around a white plastic diffuser, giving a clean, even panel of light across the ceiling. It measures 21cm long and 21cm wide and stands just 2.8cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling and keeps a low profile in rooms where a pendant would feel crowded. The LED is integrated, drawing 17W and giving 2,100lm of cool white light at 4000K. It is rated IP20, so it is a light for indoor rooms.

We think it works especially well in hallways, landings, living rooms, studies and bedrooms, anywhere a ceiling needs a bright, practical light without a hanging shade. The cool 4000K is crisp and clear, which helps in a hallway where you are finding keys and coats, or in a study where you want to read and work comfortably. The black frame gives a neat, graphic outline against a white or pale grey ceiling and sits happily alongside black shelving, picture frames and darker cabinetry.

The body is steel and the diffuser is plastic, and the light from the integrated LED is spread evenly across the white face, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it is controlled from your wall switch; pair it with a standard switch rather than a dimmer. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 0.694KG.
