Description

The Gosmelle is a square LED downlight, 21.6cm long and 21.6cm wide, with a black steel body framing a white plastic shade. The LEDs are integrated, built into the fitting itself, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 17W and gives 2,100 lumens at 4000K, a neutral white that sits between warm and cool light. It is rated IP20, and that settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from water.

Set flush into the ceiling, it suits hallways, landings, studies, bedrooms and living rooms, any dry room that needs plenty of light without a hanging shade. The black frame draws a crisp outline against a pale ceiling and sits comfortably alongside black hooks, handles and switch plates. Because it needs only 2.6cm of depth above the ceiling, it is a sensible choice where the void is shallow and a deeper downlight would not fit. With 2,100 lumens from each one, it gives a bright, generous light that suits a busy hall or a working study.

The body is steel, a strong material that holds its shape, and the white plastic shade covers the LEDs across the whole face. It is not dimmable, so it belongs on an ordinary on/off switch at the wall rather than a dimmer, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. It is energy class E and weighs 0.589KG packed. The ceiling needs a cut-out of 20.5cm, and as a light wired into the mains it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
