Description

The Goldenrod is a 421mm outdoor wall lantern built around a western bronze metal frame with clear bevelled glass panels and removable gold-painted vertical rods. A single E27 bulb sits inside the glass enclosure, casting light through the bevelled edges to create defined reflections on porch walls and pathway surfaces. The gold rods can be left in place for the full caged appearance or removed to simplify the profile.

Designed for UK external wall mounting on porches, front entrances, garage exteriors and covered patios, the lantern carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water from any direction. The 220mm projection from the wall and top-mounted hanging ring give the fitting a traditional lantern silhouette that works with Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian architecture as well as mid-century-influenced contemporary builds. The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W, including warm-white LED filament bulbs that suit the clear glass and exposed fitting.

The western bronze finish is a dark, oil-rubbed bronze tone that weathers gracefully in exposed positions without showing minor surface changes. The gold-painted rods provide accent contrast against the bronze frame, and their removable design allows the look to be adjusted after installation. The bevelled glass panels are heavier than flat glass, giving the lantern a more substantial presence on the wall and creating sharper light patterns when the bulb is lit after dark.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. This rating makes the Goldenrod suitable for covered porches, wall positions under eaves, and other sheltered outdoor areas. It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or submersion.

Can the gold rods be removed?

Yes. The gold-painted vertical rods are removable, allowing the lantern to be simplified to just the bronze frame and glass panels. This gives flexibility to match different exterior styles or to customise the appearance by painting the rods a different colour before reinstalling them.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes any E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the traditional lantern appearance and clear glass. Bulbs are sold separately.

How is it mounted?

The lantern mounts to an external wall via a back plate with two screw fixings. The 220mm projection means it sits clear of rendered or textured wall surfaces and allows enough depth for cable entry behind the back plate. Standard UK outdoor wiring applies.
