Description

The Glorix is a 73mm diameter fixed recessed downlight with a matt black outer bezel and a satin nickel inner trim ring around the GU10 lamp holder. The fitting sits 20mm deep once installed, allowing it to recess almost flush with plasterboard ceilings. The fixed beam means the light direction cannot be adjusted after installation, making this a clean-lined ambient downlight rather than an adjustable spotlight.

Designed for general lighting in living rooms, hallways, kitchens and bedrooms, the Glorix requires a ceiling void depth of at least 90mm to accommodate the GU10 lamp holder and electrical connections behind the plasterboard. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor environments only — it is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor soffits. Multiple Glorix downlights are typically spaced 1.2-1.5m apart for even ceiling wash in residential rooms with 2.4m ceiling heights.

The matt black powder-coated bezel provides a low-glare surface finish that recedes visually against dark ceilings or provides accent contrast on white ceilings. The satin nickel inner trim reflects light back through the GU10 bulb aperture, improving light output efficiency compared to fully black interiors. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W equivalent and is dimmable when paired with a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and compatible dimmer switch.

Is the Glorix dimmable?

The fitting itself supports dimming, but dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulb installed. Use a dimmable GU10 LED bulb paired with an LED-compatible trailing-edge dimmer for reliable dimming performance. Non-dimmable GU10 bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail prematurely if wired to a dimmer circuit.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting requires a minimum 90mm void depth above the plasterboard to accommodate the GU10 lamp holder, the bulb itself and the electrical terminations. Measure from the underside of the plasterboard to the nearest joist or obstruction before cutting the ceiling aperture.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting offers no protection against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry indoor rooms. For bathrooms, specify a downlight rated IP44 or IP65 depending on the zone location.

What size aperture does it need?

The 73mm diameter refers to the outer bezel. The ceiling cut-out is typically 60-65mm depending on the spring-clip tolerance. Refer to the installation template provided with the fitting or contact us for exact cut-out dimensions before drilling.
