Description
The Gloara is an 80cm outdoor bollard light built from powder-coated metal with a white finish and a cylindrical plastic diffuser that houses four G9 bulb fittings. The IP44 rating protects the internal components against splashing water from any direction, making the bollard suitable for garden paths, terraces, driveways and courtyards exposed to typical UK weather conditions.
Designed for pathway and perimeter lighting, the 80cm height positions the light source above typical ground-level planting and lawn edges, casting a wide pool of illumination onto paving, gravel or lawn surfaces. The four G9 bulbs (sold separately) sit behind a white plastic diffuser with a perforated screen that softens and disperses the light, reducing glare while maintaining visibility along walkways after dark. The downward focus keeps light off neighbouring properties and reduces light pollution.
The powder-coated metal construction resists corrosion from rain and frost, while the white finish reflects daylight and maintains a clean appearance against rendered walls, white fencing and light-coloured paving. The 205mm diameter base provides stability when installed into concrete footings or paving sub-bases, and the cylindrical form sits comfortably in both contemporary and traditional garden layouts. The G9 fittings accept halogen or LED bulbs, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness depending on whether the bollard is used for security lighting, decorative accent or low-level ambient path marking.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 protects the internal components against solid objects over 1mm and splashing water from any direction. The Gloara can be installed in open gardens, pathways and driveways exposed to rain, but should not be placed where it will be submerged or subjected to high-pressure water jets during cleaning.
What bulbs does it take?
The bollard takes four G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs are the most common choice for outdoor bollards, typically between 2W-5W per bulb and 2700K-3000K colour temperature for warm white light. Halogen G9 bulbs are also compatible if higher output is needed.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when paired with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and a compatible outdoor dimmer switch. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb model chosen, so check the bulb packaging before purchasing.
How is it installed?
The bollard requires a concrete footing or paving sub-base for the 205mm diameter mounting plate. Mains cable is run underground in armoured cable or conduit to the bollard base. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician to ensure the IP44 seal is maintained and the installation complies with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
