Description

The Glistenis is an 82mm recessed downlight with an integrated 21W LED module delivering 3000K warm white light through a fixed-beam optic. The housing is cast from grey-finished aluminium with a prominent finned heatsink visible above the ceiling line, designed to dissipate the LED's thermal output and maintain consistent light output over the fitting's service life.

Designed for kitchens, hallways, offices and retail spaces where general ambient lighting is needed without the depth clearance for traditional downlights, the Glistenis requires a minimum 100mm ceiling void depth to accommodate the heatsink and driver assembly. The 82mm diameter aperture is typical for retrofit installations into existing ceiling grids or plasterboard ceilings. The 500mm integral cable connects to mains 230V supply via a terminal block or connector box above the ceiling.

The grey aluminium finish sits flush with the ceiling plane once installed, with only the outer bezel and lens visible from below. The fixed beam angle directs light downward in a medium spread pattern suitable for spacing at 1.5-2m centres in typical residential ceiling heights of 2.4-2.7m. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments only — not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms or outdoor covered areas.

The integrated LED is non-replaceable and rated for approximately 30,000 hours of use at the 3000K colour temperature, which translates to around 10-12 years of typical domestic use. The fitting is not dimmable and operates at full 21W output whenever switched on. Ideal Lux backs the Glistenis with a 5-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and LED driver failure.

No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimming and the fitting operates at full 21W output whenever switched on.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

A minimum 100mm ceiling void is required to accommodate the heatsink assembly and LED driver. The finned heatsink visible in the image sits entirely above the ceiling plane once installed.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is only suitable for dry interior spaces. For bathrooms, shower rooms or other damp environments an IP44 or IP65 rated downlight is required.
