Description
The Glistenis is a 56mm diameter recessed downlight with an integrated 13W LED producing 3000K warm white light, housed in a grey aluminium body with a prominent rear heatsink for thermal management. The compact cylindrical housing sits within the ceiling void with only the 56mm aperture visible below the ceiling line, making it suitable for modern residential and commercial installations where a minimal visual profile is required.
Designed for fixed-position ceiling installation in kitchens, hallways, offices and retail environments, the Glistenis provides directed downward light without adjustment or tilting. The 500mm cable run from the rear of the housing to the terminal block allows flexibility during installation into standard ceiling joists or plasterboard voids. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas — bathrooms and outdoor locations require higher-rated alternatives.
The grey aluminium finish on the visible trim ring and heatsink gives a neutral appearance that recedes visually against white or grey ceilings, while the ribbed heatsink structure visible in the image dissipates heat from the LED module to maintain consistent light output over the fitting's lifetime. The integrated LED cannot be replaced, but the 13W output and 3000K colour temperature are fixed at manufacturing, removing the variability that comes with replaceable-bulb downlights.
Ideal Lux backs the Glistenis with a 5-year warranty covering the LED module and driver. The non-dimmable driver simplifies installation on standard switched circuits but requires a separate dimmable variant if dimming control is needed. The 56mm cut-out fits tightly into ceiling joists spaced at typical UK residential intervals, though the rear heatsink depth requires approximately 100mm of void clearance above the ceiling.

Frequently Asked
Is the Glistenis dimmable?
No. The integrated driver is non-dimmable and operates on standard switched mains circuits only. If dimming control is required, check whether Ideal Lux produces a dimmable variant of the Glistenis.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
The rear heatsink and driver module require approximately 100mm of clear void space above the ceiling. Measure your ceiling depth before ordering if working with shallow voids or concrete slab ceilings.
Can the LED be replaced?
No. The LED module is integrated and non-replaceable. The fitting is covered by a 5-year warranty, and LED lifespan typically exceeds 25,000 hours under normal operating conditions.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating limits the Glistenis to dry indoor areas only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher for zones near showers and baths. Ideal Lux produces separate IP-rated downlights for wet environments.
