Description

The Glacia Base is an 880mm rectangular ceiling canopy designed to support three pendant lights from a single ceiling point. Built from white-painted metal, the canopy distributes the electrical connection across three drop points spaced along the 880mm length, allowing pendants to be positioned in a line above kitchen islands, dining tables or worktops.

Designed for installation where a single ceiling rose needs to feed multiple pendants, the Glacia Base replaces the need for three separate ceiling fixings and provides a cleaner finish than running three independent pendant cables from different points. The 70mm projection from the ceiling gives enough depth to house the wiring connections and terminal blocks behind the cover plate. The magnetic mounting system means the cover plate clips onto the base once wiring is complete, removing the need for visible screws on the finished canopy.

The white finish matches standard white ceilings and blends into rooms where the canopy itself is meant to be functional rather than decorative. The 880mm length suits typical kitchen islands between 1800-2400mm long, where three pendants can be spaced at 300-400mm intervals depending on the pendant size and desired effect. The canopy accepts standard UK mains pendant cables with earth, and each of the three drop points can accommodate one pendant fitting rated up to 60W.

Frequently Asked

How many pendants can this canopy support?

The Glacia Base has three drop points, each designed to support one pendant light rated up to 60W. The canopy connects to a single ceiling power point and distributes the feed to the three pendant cables.

Does it require a specific back box or ceiling fixing?

The canopy mounts onto a standard UK ceiling rose or ceiling fixing point where the mains cable terminates. The 70mm projection provides space for the terminal block and connections behind the cover plate. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

What spacing does the 880mm length allow between pendants?

The three drop points are pre-positioned along the 880mm length by the manufacturer. Typical spacing is approximately 300-350mm between each drop point, though exact positioning depends on the internal wiring layout. Measure the canopy on receipt if precise spacing is critical to your design.

Is the magnetic cover plate easy to remove for maintenance?

Yes. The white cover plate clips onto the base magnetically and can be removed by hand to access the wiring connections for maintenance or bulb changes on the pendants, then re-clipped without tools.
