Description

The Gernine is a pendant light with a deep steel dome shade, hung on a dark link chain from a round ceiling rose. The outside of the dome has an antique brown finish, mottled and weathered so it reads like old workshop metal, while the inside is a soft beige. It is 110cm high overall and 37cm in diameter, a generous size for hanging over a table. It takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W, and its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

We like it most hung over a kitchen table, a dining table or a desk, where the open dome sends the light down onto the surface and the weathered steel brings an industrial, farmhouse feel. It sits just as happily in a living room, above a sofa or a coffee table, with plain plaster or concrete walls and warm wood around it, where the brown and beige finish adds texture to a quiet scheme. If you love the look of a reclaimed factory light but would rather not hunt through salvage yards, this pendant brings that character straight to your ceiling.

The body is steel, and the ridged top fitting and the chain carry a dark, aged tone that matches the shade. There is no switch on the pendant itself, as it is switched at the wall. The bulb is not included, so pick any E27 bulb up to 60W; a warm white bulb suits the earthy finish particularly well.
