Description

The Hinkley Gentry is a 200mm diameter lantern pendant with three E14 candle bulbs arranged inside a cylindrical frame of clear curved glass panels, suspended from an antique nickel canopy and chain. The glass panels curve outward at the centre, giving the lantern a subtle barrel profile rather than a straight cylinder, and the metalwork at top and bottom frames the glass in matching antique nickel.

Designed for hallways, kitchen islands and dining areas, the Gentry works in spaces with ceiling heights from 2.4m upward. The drop is adjustable on installation from a minimum of 422mm to a maximum of 1993mm, giving flexibility to set the pendant at the right height above a worktop or table. The three candle-style bulbs sit on white candle sleeves with coordinating candle chasers (drip trays) below each bulb holder, referencing traditional lantern design.

The antique nickel finish provides a mid-tone metallic that sits comfortably between polished chrome and oil-rubbed bronze, pairing with both warm and cool colour schemes. The curved glass panels allow the three bulbs to be visible from all angles while softening their direct glare. The compact 200mm diameter suits narrower hallways and smaller dining tables without the visual weight of larger lanterns, and the 321mm fitting height keeps the overall proportion balanced.

What bulbs does the Gentry take?

The pendant takes three E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, each up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K to suit the traditional lantern aesthetic.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 422mm plus the 321mm fitting height gives a total suspended length of approximately 743mm. For installation above a dining table or kitchen island, ceiling heights of 2.4m or above work comfortably. The chain can be shortened during fitting to suit lower ceilings.

Is the drop adjustable after installation?

The drop is adjusted on installation by shortening the chain to the required length. Once fitted, the pendant cannot be easily adjusted without re-accessing the ceiling rose and re-threading the chain.
