Description

The Gedrez is a set of seven round recessed LED downlights, each with a plastic body in a satin nickel finish and a trim 9cm in diameter. Behind a clear plastic cover sits an integrated LED of 4.9W that gives 520lm per light, so there is no separate bulb to buy or change. Each light can be set to a warm 2700K, a neutral 4000K or a cool 6500K, which lets you match the white to the room. Rated IP20, they are made for dry rooms indoors, so they belong in living spaces rather than a bathroom, a porch or a garden wall.

We see them in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and landings, anywhere a ceiling needs clean, even light without a hanging pendant. The inner ring tilts, so you can angle each beam towards a picture, a shelf or a sideboard and wash the wall with light, or aim it straight at the floor for general lighting. Seven matching lights are enough to run a neat line along a hallway or to light a modest living room, all wearing the same satin nickel trim. The recess depth is just 2.5cm, which is good news for ceilings with very little room in the void.

Each fitting needs a round cut-out of 6.8cm and is held by sprung clips, the blue arms on either side of the body. The lights are not dimmable and have no switch of their own, so they are switched at the wall. As with any wired-in ceiling light, they should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. If you are replacing old downlights, measure the existing holes first: 6.8cm is the figure to check.
