Description

A capsule LED with the familiar G4 pins, small enough to sit in the tightest fittings, giving a clean, cool white at 5000K. Output is 190 lumens from 2W, so it drops into the sort of compact low voltage fitting that once ran a halogen capsule and asks far less of the circuit. The body is white and the light spreads widely rather than throwing a narrow beam, which keeps it even behind a small shade. It is not dimmable, so it wants a plain switched circuit.

We use these inside compact fittings where a larger lamp will not fit: small wall lights, plinth and under-cupboard lighting, glazed display cabinets, cooker hood lights and slim reading lamps. It is one we reach for where the space for a lamp is measured in millimetres. The cooler end of the white scale suits working areas, so kitchens, home offices and hobby benches where you want colour and fine detail to read clearly. Because it draws so little, a fitting carrying several of them stays modest on the meter. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, away from splashes and weather.

Construction is the usual sealed capsule, white across the body with the pins set into the base, and there is nothing to adjust. Keep dust off with a dry cloth, switching off and letting it cool for a moment first, and avoid putting it on a dimmer or a trailing edge switch, which it will not follow. It carries a two year warranty. Alongside this one the range runs to a warm white capsule of the same size and output, plus brighter G4 versions in warm and cool white if the fitting needs more light.
