Description

This framed wooden plaque carries a gentle message about friendship, set on a pale oval insert inside a light grey frame. The words read, in a mix of flowing handwritten script and neat capitals, "it's the friends we meet along the way that help us appreciate the journey", with a small heart drawn above them. Around the oval, fine grey sprigs of wild flowers and leaves trail down from the top and rise up from the bottom of a textured background. The oval itself is white, which keeps the lettering crisp and easy to read. It measures 15cm tall, 12cm wide and 2.5cm deep, so it fits neatly into small spaces.

We think of this as a gift for friends. It makes a thoughtful present for a close friend, whether to mark a friendship of many years, say thank you for being there through a hard stretch, or simply let someone know they matter. The quiet grey and white palette suits calm, neutral rooms, so it sits easily in a bedroom, a hallway, a study or a sitting room, and it looks at home among photographs and other keepsakes without crowding them. The floral sketches bring a touch of the garden indoors all year round.

The frame is wooden, finished in a light grey with clean, square edges, and its 2.5cm depth gives the oval room to sit forward from the background, which adds a little shadow and dimension to the design. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, and keep it away from damp so the wood stays in good condition. If you are giving it as a present, it needs little more than a card with a few words of your own, because the plaque already says the important part. Pair it with a shared photograph and it becomes a gift your friend will want to keep.
