Description

The Frida is a 210mm cube outdoor wall light built from die-cast aluminium with a graphite powder-coated finish, housing a single E27 bulb behind a clear polycarbonate lens and horizontal metal bars. The bars segment the light output into layered bands that project outward from the wall, casting striated shadows onto adjacent surfaces rather than delivering a single concentrated beam.

Designed for garden walls, porch areas, and pathway lighting where an IP54-rated fitting is needed, the Frida projects 175mm from the wall and mounts onto a standard exterior back box. The horizontal bar structure shields the bulb from direct view at eye level, reducing glare when approaching the light from the side or below. The polycarbonate lens is sealed behind the bars to maintain the IP54 rating, protecting the fitting from dust ingress and water spray from any direction.

The graphite finish is a dark charcoal grey with a matte texture that resists fingerprints and surface reflections. Die-cast aluminium construction gives the fitting corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity environments where sheet-metal fittings would corrode faster. The 210mm square footprint suits larger wall areas where a compact 100-120mm wall light would appear undersized, such as on rendered gable ends, brick boundary walls, or at the sides of garage doors.

The Frida is IP54-rated, meaning it's protected against dust ingress and water spray from any direction. Suitable for use on exterior walls, under open porches, on garden walls, and at gate posts. Not suitable for fully exposed positions where heavy rain hits the fitting directly from above for prolonged periods.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users install a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) for outdoor accent lighting, or a 12-15W LED for pathway and security lighting where higher output is needed.

How is it fitted to the wall?

The rear mounting plate fixes to a standard outdoor back box using screws through the back of the fitting. The plate is recessed behind the aluminium body, so only the graphite frame is visible once installed. Cable entry is from the rear through a rubber grommet that maintains the IP54 seal.

Does the horizontal bar structure reduce light output?
